Troop 658 - Rangers

Los Alamitos / Rossmoor / Seal Beach, California

Your first step is to get your Scout rank. Scout rank is the first "official" rank. Its requirements aren't very great; all you have to remember is the scout oath, law and outdoor code. Then you're ready for the tenderfoot rank.
Tenderfoot
Tenderfoot is the first "achievement" rank: It is the first rank you really have to work for. You should get this rank as fast as you can. Its requirements are very basic- "walk a 5 mile hike" and "tell why the buddy system is more important".
Second class
As you reach 2nd and 1st class, you should be earning merit badges so you will be ready for the Star merit badge rank requirement. 2nd and 1st classes are essentially tougher versions of the Tenderfoot rank. Many of these requirements can be achieved at summer camp, where you have a week and you have the right tools for accomplishing these requirements. The best place to accomplish these are on campouts.
