JOSHUA TREE

By Brian McGinnis

Troop 658 spent last weekend camping at Joshua Tree National Park. Though the drive there was long and tiring, once we arrived, it was well worth it. While we were at Joshua Tree, we participated in many activities. We went on hikes, climbed and rappelled the park's massive boulders. We even went to a "Hey Ranger!" live presentation at the Amphitheater. There we talked about threatened species and the causes. The ranger also told us Native legends and how to have a safe and enjoyable stay at Joshua Tree. Fortunately, the weather was nice enough to allow us to take place in these events. Though it was quite windy, it didn't rain as predicted. Whether you were bouldering, eating, or exploring the "Alamo", there was something for everyone to do at Joshua Tree National Park.
